GeoBee
National Geographic hosted an annual GeoBee where finalists from regional competitions were invited to compete for the winner. I designed several pieces for the program including the set design, postcards, banners, mailers and a new video question component for teachers to use in the classroom.

UX/UI GeoBee Digital Question Component
CHALLENGE: Design an interactive video question component to be used on a large screen in the classroom. Kids taking the GeoBee would have a break from the written test questions while being inspired by the work of National Geographic explorers.

SOLUTION: We designed mockups in photoshop to show the flow of the video question > timer > answer. There would also be modal popups for the teacher to use to navigate and buttons for pausing and starting each question so it could be done in the classroom in real time.
Three introductory videos corresponded with three rounds of 10 questions each. The teacher starts the video first and then clicks the Question 1 button when they are ready to start.

National Geographic explorers asked the questions via video.
We included an animated countdown clock to help students know how much time they had to answer the questions.

The question mark in the top right of the screen led to a modal with instructions.

I laid out the flow and showed the hover states in a pdf document for the developers.
